What the record says

Alfred was a cyclone in the South Pacific and Australian region basin that lasted about 15 days, from 21 February 2025 to 8 March 2025. Its peak was Category 4 (115 kt) on 27 February 2025, with a 1-minute sustained wind of 115 kt (132 mph, 213 km/h). Its lowest recorded pressure was 954 hPa. It is a provisional record and may change.

Source of the peak wind: US operational TC Vitals (provisional). The regional forecast centre (Australian Bureau of Meteorology) gave a peak of 90 kt on its own averaging convention (10-minute winds), so the two figures differ.
